| long ago, there was an order to plant thousands of poplars throughout the cities. its aim was to make the motherland appear less gloomy in the rare times there weren't snow blanketing every square metre. the man in charge of this project did not listen to botanists who told him he should plant an even mix of males and females. he was in a rush, so he planted only female poplars. now, in summer, the cities are choked with the white fluff of the flowering female trees. it does not look warmer, nor is the city less cold for it. they named it snezhnaya's curse. |
